Life at corporate vs PSU

In this article we have discussed difference between Corporate Job and Public Sector Undertakings Job. I have talked to many employees of both corporate and PSU as well about their Job Life. All have given their honest review.

Life at Corporate vs Life at Public Sector Undertakings

You may think Why I am writing this article. Because every aspirant should know that whatever goal they want to achieve, first they should know that will they be happy after achieving that goal.
I have met many people who are not happy in their current organisation. Many students want to go for PSU just to get government job and they do alot of hard study to get that job but the fruit of that government job is worth of that or not. First we will discuss about corporate job and then PSU.

Corporate Job Life

An BTech graduate after engineering generally have option of either to join IT job like TCS, INFY, Wipro etc or to pursue higher education like MTech or Phd from premier colleges.

If the BTech graduate join IT job, the initial package he or she might get will be around 3 lac per annum ctc but growth of that salary will be much faster. Salary increment will be from 10% to 30% annually.
But after getting 3 to 5 years experience if person want to switch the company then the salary increment can be 100% too.

Also the life style at corporate is cool. In lifestyle you there is no match of corporate job. Only problem in corporate job is 'no job security '.

PSU Job Life

I will try to cover all the good and bad experiences about PSU job life with no butter on it. I would urge you to hold your horses while reading this article and then you can make any kind of judgment what kind of life it is to work in a PSU.

The PSUs are known to provide a royal induction to the fresh recruits. They provide some of the perks like they bear the cost of your new phone, they bear travel expenses, mobile expenses and you also get quarters at very nominal rates -from nominal I mean less than 1000 bucks a months in total. Think of the savings.
You also get to visit all sister plants and central marketing offices as a part of your induction in which you get a privilege to stay in 5-star hotels. It’s a great experience of roam around geographies of India.

Then in sometime honeymoon gets over, the reality pinches you. After having an overview of work location or plant for a month or more, you are delegated to a specific department and by this time you have to be ready to get your hands dirty. You may have to work in shifts of day and night rotating weekly, which is absolutely not an easy task when it comes to work in plant. Gradually, it becomes a habit.

The promotions happen at an interval of minimum 3-4 years, so don’t expect it any earlier than that.

This is myth that you will be less stressed with the work as compared with the private jobs. Even 8 hours a day will be sufficient to eat your energy.

Almost all PSUs post engineering graduate to work in a plant and you never know whether you are going to be the victim of noise or air pollution. If plant is undergoing any expansion then your working time will have no limits.
Although you will get Job security.

A famous and suitable dialogue from a movie which can summarise above comparison is
"Udhar Khadagapur mein job ke security mein phans gaye na Baba…Toh hum aage kuch nahi kar payenge"
